Corey is a drummer/percussionist, educator and composer from upstate NY who can be heard drumming in any style from jazz, rock, hip-hop, world, and in between.  He has been studying and performing music since he was a child and has been fortunate to work in many diverse genres with artists such as Marc Seales, Don Grusin, Edan, Emanuel Agbeli, Abu Bakari,Joe Magnarelli and Jeff Palmer.  

In 1997, Corey was the recipient of multiple music scholarships including the legendary J.R. Monterose Jazz Musician Scholarship, Berklee Achievement Scholarship, Matthew Tyler Memorial Scholarship, and the Gertrude Nourse Music Scholarship.  Corey also landed the UW Jazz Performance Scholarship while attending school in Seattle.

In addition to his years of schooling, Corey traveled to Ghana, West Africa and attended the Dagbe Cultural Institute in Kopeyia.  There he studied music, dance and culture of the Ewe and Dagbomba people.

Corey teaches private lessons and leads several ensembles at the YCCA including Percussion Ensemble, Rock Ensemble, Composers Workshop, Drumming 101, Intro to Improvisation, Piano Lab, African Drumming & Steel Drumming.  He is also responsible for creating and maintaining the website, www.yccamusic.org and www.uticajazz.com.

In the past, Corey has taught music at North Shore Hebrew Academy in Great Neck, NY, Holy Cross Academy in Oneida, NY and has given clinics at Don Bennett Drum Studio in Seattle, WA.

Corey has performed and recorded with several underground artists from all over the country including Cooter Stew, The Yarbles, Edan, The Yarbles, Open Eliot, The Mohawk Valley Jazz Quintet, The Fading Collection, Swamiko, Fiber, The Modeles, Heatwarmer, Pitchbender 2000, GKoop, and Brian Kinsella.
